Where are the true leaders?

The word I am hearing is the democratic leadership does not intend to put up a fight against Bush’s “make my crimes legal” bill.

Am I missing something here? Bush wants retroactive approval to TORTURE people!

Torture: the act of inflicting excruciating pain, as punishment or revenge, as a means of getting a confession or information, or for sheer cruelty.

The Moral implications here should be plenty to create outrage, but add to that, practically every expert on interrogation will tell you, it doesn’t work.

You would think nothing O’Reily says would surprise me anymore but yesterday he said that anyone against waterboarding was insane. Waterboarding the act of strapping somone to a board dunking them in water until they believe they are going to be drowned. Insane?

Something is definitely not right here; the country I love does not do such things, ever, for any reason.

As citizens we must stand up on this issue, our elected representatives and candidates must stand up. Is there a real belief that the majority of Americans are ok with torture? If not then standing up against the Bush “make my crimes legal” bill should be helpful in an election year, not the opposite.
