Lott: Iraq War unimportant

When asked if Bush discussed the Iraq war in his private meeting with GOP Senators today, Trent Lott responded:

"No, none of that," Lott told reporters after the session when asked if the Iraq war was discussed. "You're the only ones who obsess on that. We don't and the real people out in the real world don't for the most part."

Obsess? How many millions are being spend every day on this illegal war? We are approaching 2700 young americans who have given thier lives not the mention 10's of thousands of Iraqis. More young Islamic youth join terrorist organizations every day because of this war. Yes it seems this war is something to obsess about.

Lott then made another even more amazing comment:

"It's hard for Americans, all of us, including me, to understand what's wrong with these people," he said. "Why do they kill people of other religions because of religion? Why do they hate the Israeli's and despise their right to exist? Why do they hate each other? Why do Sunnis kill Shiites? How do they tell the difference? They all look the same to me."

They all look the same to Mr. Lott. Perhaps this is the problem. The republicans in power are clueless to the motivations the reality in the rest of the world. In fact I believe they are clueless to anything outside their mansions and limosines.

We need leaders with a clue. We must take back the congress, Vote for Kilroy, Shamansky, Space or your local democratic candidate for congress.
