GOP The Party of BP

It has never been more obvious who Republicans represent. Throughout the gulf spill tragedy while President Obama and the Administration was worked tirelessly to try to protect the lives, the environment and the way of life of the residents of the gulf human and animal, the Republican's primary talking points are complaints about the temporary moratorium on such drilling that caused this great American tragedy.

The party of "drill baby drill" wants us to again believe this was an isolated incident and take the risk of additional such tragedies in order to protect the profits of the oil companies.

Yesterday President Obama in a remarkable sign of his strength and leadership got BP, a major corporation to put 20 billion dollars in a fund to be administrated by a third party to finally effectively and efficiently get financial help to those harmed by this corporate damage to America. How do the Republicans respond? One calls it a fleecing of BP, one calls it an unprecedented shakedown of a private corporation, another calls it a slush fund.

The President is doing what is right, to work to recover from the effects of this horrible corporate attack on America, to make sure that proper safeguards are in place to prevent it from happening again, and to make sure that the people whose very lives have been destroyed by that are helped financially. And the GOP? Wants us to stop picking on BP.

Seriously? Yes America, Vote Republican, Vote BP.

Perhaps when BP rebrands all their stations so people forget this tragedy they will change the name to GOP stations.

OH 07: Austria earns his paycheck from Big Oil

As expected Steve Austria congressman from the 7th district in Ohio, walked in lock step with his fellow RepubOILcans and voted against the Energy Bill on Friday. He put the interests of Big Oil fat cats that contribute to his campaigns such as Marathon, ConocoPhillips, Ashland Oil, and American Gas Association above the interests of both his constituents and the world.

He voted no to take steps to fight climate change that could be the most cataclysmic event in the worlds future if nothing is done. He voted no to strengthening our national security by lessening our dependency on foreign Oil. He voted no to creating thousands of new green jobs to help the economy of Ohio.

As expected Steve Austria is not about the betterment of the citizens of his district, our country, the world or its citizens. Steve Austria is about politics and keeping his big oil backers happy.

RepubOILcan desperate

After spending the last several weeks blocking or delaying every single attempt made by the Democrats in Congress to pass real solutions on energy, the RepubOILcans and McCain are showing their desperation by pulling silly stunts to try to distract Americans from the failed policies that lead our country into this economic crisis.

Knowing a blood bath is approaching in the upcoming elections where even Big oils money won't save their seats, the RepubOILcans latest stunt is to demand Congress come back into session right as the conventions approach. This is laughable since Democrats in congress put a number of bills up for consideration and the RepubOILcans filibustered and delayed and stalled on every single bill.

Real solutions on rampant speculation, forcing Big Oil to actually produce oil on the 68,000,000 acres they now are able to use, assistance for low income homeowners were all stalled or blocked because they didnt include provisions that would allow Big Oil to pad their balance sheets even further by adding more leases to drill that they would likely not use.

Voters must be made aware that the reason nothing was accomplished this summer was that the RepubOILcans and their Big Oil backers prevented it. Why? So they could pull these stunts and hope the American people are not paying attention.

We have had 8 years of Big oil being in control of government and Congress. We have had 8 years of rising gas prices, a declining economy and record profits of Big Oil.
Americans know it is the RepubOILcans that have created this situation, and thus will throw the bums out to increase the Democratic Majority so real solutions can be implemented.

Anti Oil Extremists?

That is what Orin Hatch calls those of us that want real solutions to the inflated oil prices that will have a real effect now. Those of us that want to reduce speculation that falsely inflates the value of oil. Those that support assisting low income homeowners heat their homes this winter. Those of us that want the oil companies to actually produce on the 68,000,000 acres of oil rich land that they refuse to because it is more valuable to leave them idle on their balance sheets.

If it is extremist to be opposed to the Oil companies to get wealthier and wealthier while most Americans get poorer and poorer, call me an extremist. To be opposed to policies that have one purpose to increase the profits of those companies and the oil speculators, then yes I'm an extremist. But frankly Orin Hatch, I think the right word is not extremist, a better description would be practical intelligent Americans who want real solutions now.

The real extremists are the RepubOILcans that only propose solutions that make the Oil Companies and thus their contributors wealthier while the rest of us suffer.

RepubOILcans block measure to lower gas prices

Apparently in an attempt to get more time for the oil speculators on wall street and Big Oil to reap more profits on the backs of American consumers, the RepubOILcans in the Senate blocked Senate Bill 3268 from being voted on.

This bill would be one of the few simple short term solutions to the problem of high oil prices, that would place Oil Commodity trading under the same rules and regulations that are in place for all other such trading.

This loophole that has existed put in place by McCain's economic guru Phil Graham, has allowed speculators to falsely inflate the price of oil on the world markets to gain even more profit for themselves while forcing the price at the pump higher and higher.

Though this is just one step in a multifaceted solution to lowering oil prices, this one corrects a wrong and would have immediate effect and can be done now. Experts have estimated this bill alone would lower oil prices up to 20%.

Seems simple upfront and a correction that could be made immediately. One problem, it negatively effects the profits of big oil and these speculators that back the these RepubOILcans, so they voted to prevent this bill from passing.

The RepubOILcans also today blocked a vote on a bill that would provide energy assistance to low income homeowners. Why, because it did not include any provisions to allow Oil Companies to pad their balance sheets with new idle leases. Since this bill had nothing to do with energy production, the RepubOILcans are proving with clairity, they have one goal, more profits for Big Oil and they will block any attempt to help consumers unless they get this.

Apparently they are stalling for time to give big oil more profits as long as possible until the Democrats have a larger majority in the Congress and take the White House.

OH-18: Dailey wants more profits for Big Oil

Fred Dailey showed that he is another RepubOILcan, wanting to increase the assets of big oil rather then actually requiring them to produce new supplies from the leases they hold within 68,000,000 acres of drillable area that they now hold idly on their balance sheets.

Yesterday Dailey said, . "Zack Space has done nothing to help Eastern Ohioans during this energy crisis. My approach includes drilling for oil off our coasts and in ANWR." Dailey also came out opposed to the "use it or lose it bill" which actually forces Big Oil to actually drill on the lands they currently lease, that could have an immediate impact on oil prices.

In short, more profits for big oil, no action to increase supply.

Zack Space proposes real solutions that do not have as their litmus test more profits for big oil.

OH-18 Space proposes solutions Dailey sucks up to Oil Companies

While Zack Space actively works to actually do something about gas prices, Fred Dailey marches in lockstep with the other RepubOILcans wanting to increase the assets of Big Oil. Zack Space was a co-sponser this week of a House bill that would have forced big oil to take their idle leases off their balance sheets and actually start producing oil from them.

A spokesman for Fred Dailey, Sean Bartley, called the bill “laughable because it does nothing to promote drilling.” Apparently Dailey and his campaign is clueless about what this bill was, considering it was all about forcing the companies to drill on the leases they currently hold.

It is not a suprise that Dailey takes this approach considering of the meager contributions he has been able to raise, his contributors include the Ohio Oil and Gas association and Knox Energy.

Once again its clear the Oil Companies and the RepubOILcans in their pocket don't actually want to produce more oil they just want to pad their profits with more leases on their balance sheets.

The Blackmailing of America

It has become quite clear that the gas prices we are now paying are either the result of or at the very least being used by the Oil Companies and the Rep-oil-cans to blackmail this nation into giving up concessions that will increase the profits of Big Oil. Bush, McCain and the Repoilcans and the Oil Companies themselves have been marching to the same drumbeat, claiming the problem is restrictions on drilling.

They want more rights to lease more areas to drill, so that they can do so when and if it provides them the best profits. The reality is there are 68 million acres with oil rich land that the oil companies currently hold leases to and could drill if they so choose. Yet they have not. Among these acres is 16 billion gallons of oil available just in the North Slope of Alaska that they can drill now. This is more oil then has been gained from Alaska since drilling began there. There are 800,000 barrels of oil coming through the pipeline today, there used to be 2.1 million per day. The oil companies have reduced production by choice period.

By choosing not to drill in these 68 million acres available to them, the Oil Companies have helped increase our dependence on foreign oil, caused the price of oil to rise, put our nation in danger, caused wars, is damaging the auto industry, food prices, recession and now according to a Pugh Research poll released today, damaging the tourism and restaurant industries in the process.

This handful of powerful companies is trying to force our nation to its knees so that they can get more and increase their profits. What’s worse they have Bush, McCain and the Repoilcans in their pocket. They have even managed to get the Governor of Florida Charlie Frist to put the tourism industry that is vital to his state at risk by changing his position on off shore drilling.

While McCain runs commercials on his new realization of the importance of
Global warming, he gives speeches demanding we damage the environment more by doing more drilling in more places.

The answer is to force the companies to drill where they already have leases. We must hold them accountable for their illegal manipulation of supply. To stop the speculating that only increases the greed of these companies and to search for real solutions that both reduce our dependence on oil foreign and domestic along with saving our environment.

Standard Oil was broken up for a reason, its time that these companies also be prevented from holding America Hostage.
