John Boehner Is Their Leader?

Ohio Republican Congressman and Minority Leader John Boehner reminds Americans every time he opens his mouth why they should not vote for Republicans in Congress and Senate. This week alone he has shown his total ignorance taunting the President, with the words "where are the jobs?" in response to the President speaking at a ground breaking of a new factory creating new jobs. A factory by the way made possible by the very stimulus package that Boehner continues to call a failure despite all the evidence to the contrary.

Then yesterday, the long awaited Financial Reform act passed, a bill widely popular among voters. A bill that will prevent the greed and misdeeds by big banks and wall street to throw our economy into a tail spin once again. John Boehner response, he wants a moratorium on all new federal regulations.

Is this man totally clueless to the needs of our nation? Lack of regulation created the economic disaster and the Bush recession. Lack of regulation caused millions of Americans to lose their homes. Lack of regulation created the need for millions of tax payer money to be used to bail out banks and other companies. Lack of regulation cost citizens 8 million jobs under Republican leadership. And now lack of regulation has caused the biggest environmental and one of the biggest economic disasters in the Gulf of Mexico in our nations history.

John Boehner and the Republicans want one thing, the rich to get richer, to hell with the consequences to everyone else. He is not alone, this has been the clear motivation of Republicans for decades. Tax cuts for the rich, let corporations take over our elections, let the oil companies run roughshod while putting our nation at risk, economically, environmentally and national security wise.

It sickens me that John Boehner represents my very own state, and it makes me no less disgusted that the only time we ever seen my own Congressman Steve Austria on Cspan, is usually him standing behind Beohner bobbing his head up and down like a bobble head doll.

The bottom line is this, Republicans caused the damage, they caused the recession, they are responsible for the oil spill, the took our country from surplus to deficit, they cost Americans 8 million jobs, the killed the middle class, while they gave tax breaks to the rich and corporations.

President Obama is being very successful in leading our nation into economic recovery, stopping the hemorrhaging of jobs, creating hundreds and thousands of jobs, saving the auto industry, helping middle class Americans with a tax cut and helping them get more affordable health insurance.

But the damage by the Republicans is deep. It cannot all be corrected over night. Especially when every step of the way, they put roadblocks in front of every positive action this President attempts to take.

It is clear Americans want action, they want improvement. One party and its President is clearly working hard in the right direction. The other is simply the Party of NO and are more interested in political rhetoric then actually doing anything to solve our nations problems.

OH 07: Steve Austria taking his marching orders from party boss Glenn Beck

Not a big surprise but despite thousands losing insurance every day, thousands going bankrupt due to medical expenses, almost 9000 losing their lives due to lack of insurance Austria's non issue of the month is Czars.

Despite the fact that "Czar" is a media made up title of Administration Staff that is simply a short cut for their long actual titles. Despite the fact that there have been "czars" for decades. Despite the fact George W. Bush appointed more such employees then President Obama. Steve Austria has decided that is the most important issue of the month on his newsletter.

Apparently when Glenn Beck makes up a fake issue that takes precedence over war, poverty, unemployment and health care. Steve Austria rather then speaking on these important issues he writes about and cosponsors legislation about "Czars"

Steve Austria once again has proven he is simply a right wing puppet of whoever is pulling the strings. Sometimes John Boehner who has often been seen speaking in the foreground and Austria stands behind him nodding his head up and down like a bobbled head doll or more recently his lock step actions based on made up stories by Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh.

Some congressional districts have congressmen that represent their interests, unfortunately we in the 7th District have no such representative.

Wake up Congress 77% want Public Option

Despite the media coverage that has focused on the loudest if not the smartest town hall participants, once again a poll has found that a significant majority of Americans want a public option in health care reform.

The Survey USA polls shows 58% of American voters find the public option extremely important and another 19% find it quite important. that is 77% an overwhelming majority of voters who recognize a national need for a real public option in health care reform.

The United States is a representative republic we elect our Congressmen and Senators to vote in the best interest of its citizens. We elect them to get the facts and understand the background on every vote they make. What has been screamed at them at town halls is not fact, it is either misunderstandings or outright planned lies set out by those who will do anything to prevent Obama from succeeding despite what is best for the nation.

There were similar voices against civil rights reform, social security, and medicare. Yet those that voted for those things are heroes in American History. This is the chance for those in the Congress and Senate to once again be heroes.

The message we need to send to Zack Space, Steve Austria, Sherrod Brown and George Voinivich is: Doing nothing never goes down in history, achieving results does.

OH 07: Austria Lies and Belittles at Town Hall

Steve Austria finally held a town hall yesterday in Washington Courthouse on Health Care reform. As we are getting used to with him he couldn't managed to avoid lies. He said "very, very concerned about a complete government take over of our health care system." No one is proposing a government takeover of the health care system yet he and the RepLIEcans can't help themselves in repeating that mantra.

He then went on to belittle the 40 Million Americans who don't have health care insurance: " If you look at who the uninsured are right now, there's a portion that are, quite frankly, illegal immigrants. Another portion is employees of employers who decided not to take it. Then there are those who are uninsured, who through no fault of their own, are not insured. We ought to be focused on helping these individuals." So if their employer offers a bad health care plan they can't afford, its their fault for not signing up for it Austria?

Austria also said his office was flooded with calls and e-mails from Ohioans opposed to government run health care. Of course they are because those for Health Care Reform know your a lost cause of a republican partisan tool and not worth the call.

Perhaps we should change that. We won't get his vote but we sure can light up his phone lines. Call his Springfield Office at 937-325-9188 or e-mail him at austria.house.gov. Let him know we want, no we need Health Care Reform not partisan lies.

Our Representative Democracy

Once again a situation has come up in our history that reminds us how much true vision the founders of our nation had. They set up our nation as a representative democracy which means that we elect representatives to make the decisions for us in Congress. We give them the responsibility to get and understand the actual facts and to work in our best interests.

The latest NBC poll shows why this remain so important for our nation. That poll clearly shows that a majority of voters are misinformed on what is and is not in the health care reform bills. They have been manipulated by lies and distortions about death panels, abortion, and government takeover. Luckily we do not make laws by referendum by the uniformed masses. We have a Senate and Congress of men and women we choose to understand the truth, the details and to vote accordingly.

It is true that the uniformed masses can make a lot of noise and put pressure on those representatives. Yet those very same representatives should know that if they are voting based on the facts and reality and that this bill will in fact help their constituents, that time will show their wisdom. They will also know when they go to bed at night, that they did what is right for their country.

Those that vote against their constituents interests, for either selfish political reasons, temporary popularity or for interests of lobbyists or big money donors and corporations, will eventually shown to be for what they are, ineffective representatives that have betrayed the citizens they represent.

It is time for representatives to take a position on health care reform that is based on the truth, that is based on what is right and what is needed and best for our nation. It is time for those representatives to also take note that the very same poll showed that when their constituents were shown a list of items that were actually in the bills, a majority was in favor of those features. It is the distortions and lies they are afraid of, not actual Health Care Reform.

Zack Space doing what is right will get you re-elected. George Voinovich doing so will give you a good legacy to retire on. Steve Austria though I have no hope you would do anything based on anything other then pure political motivation, there is always hope for once you would do what is best for your constituents.

OH 07: Steve Austria's Op-Ed Lie

Once again Congressman Steve Austria can't tell the truth. In an op-ed he wrote for the Lancaster Eagle Gazette on August 8th. He makes the following statement:

"The House plan is about 1,000 pages long and according to the Lewin Group, a nonpartisan actuarial group, it could cause as many as 114 million individuals to lose their current health care insurance due to the government-run plan reimbursing at Medicare rates in the legislation. The House bill also could mean 4.7 million people will lose their jobs as a result of taxes on businesses that are not able to offer employees health insurance."

The Lewin Group? A non partisan actuarial group? The Lewin Group is a wholly owned subsidiary of United Health Group, one of the profit gouging insurance companies getting rich denying coverage to Americans .

Though perhaps we can't hold Austria totally responsible for this lie, considering his history of plagiarism he probably didn't write this op-ed anyway.

OH:07 Austria Dishonest In Newsletter

Congressman Steve Austria using a typical RepubOILcan Faux News like tactic, used taxpayer funds to send out a newsletter dishonestly posting the following as his quote of the week:

"Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates will necessarily skyrocket." -President Barack Obama

Now here is the truth about this quote. This was taken from an interview from January 2008 that Candidate Obama gave to the San Fransisco Chronicle. It was taken completely out of context. The point he was making is that changing over our old polluting ways of producing electricity will cost money in the short term but as new technologies and sources of energy are developed the long term effect on the economy will be positive.

What Austria and the RepubOILcans have yet to learn is Americans are not stupid and we are tired of being lied to. Our nations dependency on fossil fuels as used currently is a huge problem for not only the climate, the economy and national security. We will no longer accept the lies of Austria and his cronies who tell us to do nothing and the problems will magically go away with no cost.

OH 07: Austria earns his paycheck from Big Oil

As expected Steve Austria congressman from the 7th district in Ohio, walked in lock step with his fellow RepubOILcans and voted against the Energy Bill on Friday. He put the interests of Big Oil fat cats that contribute to his campaigns such as Marathon, ConocoPhillips, Ashland Oil, and American Gas Association above the interests of both his constituents and the world.

He voted no to take steps to fight climate change that could be the most cataclysmic event in the worlds future if nothing is done. He voted no to strengthening our national security by lessening our dependency on foreign Oil. He voted no to creating thousands of new green jobs to help the economy of Ohio.

As expected Steve Austria is not about the betterment of the citizens of his district, our country, the world or its citizens. Steve Austria is about politics and keeping his big oil backers happy.

Austria and Tiberi put politics before jobs and education

As expected Congressmen Steve Austria and Pat Tiberi walked in lock step with fellow loser Republicans to maintain their course of putting politics above the citizens of their districts. The voted no on the stimulus package despite the fact it was the policies and their party that lead this country down this path.

Thank goodness the voters of the this country in most districts have put men like this in the minority in congress and our country can move forward on improving the economy and the lives of Americans despite them.

The whining of the republicans on this bill has been laughable. Tiberi complained it did nothing about the mortgage crisis. Well genius does it address it directly, no this is a jobs stimulus package. The mortgage crises is being dealt with in various other ways and in other bills and he knows this. Regardless Americans losing their jobs by the 10's of thousands is not helping the mortgage crises either. So this will in fact in a indirect way have a positive effect on that.

The other bogus claim is they didn't have time to read the bill. Bull pucky. This bill has been debated and discussed for weeks. They manage to find little pieces of it to take out of context and twist to complain about but somehow don't know whats in the bill? The bill as passed had only a few changes. Each and every congressman and Senator has a huge staff, this is what they are for, to read, analyze and provide the information to their bosses.

President Obama was unbelievably gracious and understanding when it came to getting the input from the Republicans on this bill. The bill was changed in ways not for the good, in my opinion, based on this input. The President reached out and acted in a bi partisan manner as he promised he would. The Republicans chose to still turn their backs on him and the country.

Quite clearly the Republicans didn't learn from their blistering defeat at the polls in November. Perhaps they will learn in 2 years when their numbers decrease even further. American has chosen leadership over partisan political games. Leadership will win.

Austria In the Pockets of Big Oil, Pharmaceutical and Big Banks

This year Big Oil has made record profits on the backs of Americans through outrageous prices at the pump. For decades in our country health care costs bankrupt seniors and families every day while the pharmaceutical companies fight every attempt to bring those costs down, and for 8 years the actions of the Big Banks pushing their cronies in Congress for less and less regulation has lead to record foreclosures and bringing the country to the brink of economic disaster. Steve Austria has decided to represent them rather then the voters of Ohio's 7th Congressional district.

These corporate special interests are trying to retain their control on Congress by trying to buy the 7th district. Steve Austria has accepted:

At least $111,000 from health care, pharmaceutical and insurance interests, including Pfizer, Bristol Meyers Squibb, Nationwide, and the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors;

At least $53,000 from banking and finance interests, including American Banker’s Association, Sallie Mae, National City, and Bank of America; and

At least $36,400 from Big Oil and energy interests, including Marathon, ConocoPhillips, Ashland Oil, and American Gas Association.

The voters of the seventh district deserve a representative in Congress that represents their interests not the corporate special interests. This is why we need Sharen Neuhardt in Congress

The Dayton Daily News has endorsed Sharen Neuhardt. Here are some highlights from their endorsement:

"Sen. Austria has not earned a major promotion. The 7th District should be looking for somebody better."

"He is not associated with any exceptional accomplishment in the Legislature. "

"If the voters of the 7th District choose Sen. Austria, they are settling for mediocrity [...]"

OH-07:Austria Shows He is a Cowardly Liar in Debate

This morning the debate of the candidates for Ohio's 7th Congressional District was taped. In that debate as Sharen talked about the economic issues that are affecting so many Ohioans, Steve Austria chose to once again spread lies and innuendo. He again used a victim of Rwandan genocide to attempt to score cheap political points.

He claimed the refugee was illegal, which court records have proven otherwise. He tried to make an innuendo concerning the refugee's social security card which was also obtained legally.

Sharen blasted Austria for this stunt and fought back with the truth. Austria was only able to keep repeating his lies and smears, hoping if he said it often enough the facts will change.

Be sure to watch the debate when it airs at 10pm on Tuesday on ONN. Channel 10 in Columbus will show it at 2:05 am on Wednesday, and ONN will replay it at 2pm October 19th and November 1.

What Austria Doesn't Want You to Know

HE IS A REPUBLICAN!

Austria is running a television attack ad in the Columbus Market and no doubt other places. Like on his literature and most of his campaign materials he fails to mention one important fact, that he is a Republican.

In fact he is trying to imply he isn't. In the piece he criticizes Neuhardt for supporting the Economic Recovery Act, though neither Sharen or Austria actually voted for or against it since neither is in Congress yet. Sharen however did come out and take a stand in support of the package, Austria as usual tried to play both sides and now he claims he is against the act despite it was his President that brought the need for the act to Congress. In addition Austria's mentor Hobson voted for the measure both times. Incredibly Austria is showing that he is clueless as he is claiming the act didn't work. When anyone with a brain knows the features of the plan will take some time to implement. So clearly since none of it has taken effect yet, it hasn't worked, yet.

Austria also in his commercial is accusing Neuhardt of being "willing to bailout the fat cats." This is quite interesting since Austria's campaign has been funded by PACs with ties to Enron and convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff. Some of his biggest contributors are banks and investment companies such as Citigroup, Huntington and Goldman Sachs. Who is in bed with the "fat cats?"

Austria once again shows he is nothing but a career politician with no regard for the truth. He wants to fool the voters to believe he is some populist when in fact he is part of the Good Ole Boy Republican Money Machine.

OH-07:Austria's Poll A Joke

The Austria campaign and Weapons of Mass Distraction is touting a poll that shows that he leads Sharen Neuhardt by 24%. Once again the Austria Campaign and their supporters are "factually challenged."

The Poll was commissioned not by an independent pollster but by the National Republican Campaign Committee. The polling firm used, the Tarrance Group describes itself as a "national Republican polling firm."

Here is the laugher, the sample size was 300. There are 300,000 active voters in the 7th district not counting the huge numbers of newly registered voters.

Finally there is no information on the question actually asked in the poll. This is information that all reputable pollsters provide. Since Austria doesn't even inform voters in his campaign literature that he is a Republican its unlikely that it was mentioned in the poll either.

Steve Austria actually said, ""I am, however, disappointed that my opponent has decided to go negative this week instead of talking about the issues."

This is the man that used Sharen's legal assistance for a victim of Rwandan genocide as a political smear.


The good news is lets hope the Republicans believe this poll and put their PAC money elsewhere.

Like McCain, Austria Depending on False Smears

It has been clear the last few weeks that the McCain campaign unable to defend their stance on the real issues affecting Americans primarily the state of the economy, that their only strategy left has been to resort to false smears and innuendo. The Austria Campaign is no different.

Steve Austria that has not offered a single new idea throughout his campaign and has tried to run repeating the word liberal as many times as possible, went into the dirt a few weeks ago spreading a false attack about Neuhardt harboring an illegal immigrant. This of course has been proven totally false by court documents that have been reported on this blog and widely on the internet and the media.

Despite being found to be totally false the Austria Campaign continues this attack by leaving their press release concerning this on the front page of their web site. Including the outright lie in the piece claiming they were first made aware of this by the Dayton Daily News, when the reality is they have been shopping this false story around for weeks and a Dayton Daily News reporter finally fell for it.

Austria has shown he has no integrity and is not fit to hold any elected office. We must work to make Sharen Neuhardt our representative in Congress.

OH:07 Austria Sinks to New Low

Steve Austria and his cronies in a false attack reminiscent of the "fathered a black child" falsehood pulled on John McCain by Karl Rove in the 2000 South Carolina Primary, has sunk to a new low in his desperate attempt to gain this Congressional Seat.

Austria's cronies with the complicity of the Dayton Daily News, and the Springfield Sun-Times have run a story that Sharen Neuhardt is harboring an illegal alien.

This is a sick attack using a boy that has lived through hell as a Rwandan refugee.

Here is the true story. Ishema Umuhoza was an 11 year old boy when he was separated from his family as they were trying to flee Rwanda. His parents were diplomats with close ties to Rwanda's former President Habyalimana who was assassinated.

Ishema then spent the next 4 years in a refugee camp alone, where he met Cecile Ntawukulilyayo. She took him under her wing and posed as his Aunt telling him to never let anyone know who his parents were for his own safety.

When Ishema was 15 years old Cecile brought him to the United States still referring to the boy as her nephew. Cecile filed for asylum along with her own son and Ishema and it was denied. There was no testimony at this hearing concerning who Ishema's parents were or on the merits of his case and the likely of his persecution in Rwanda.

Ishema was young was not aware of his rights to appeal or even what his status was. Once he became more fluent in English and had become independent of Cecile he has since began legal proceedings to gain asylum. Ishema remains in this country under a stay issued by the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. Case No. 3:05CV164. He is therefor at this time in this country legally.

Sharen Neuhardt and her family have done a remarkably generous and moral thing by giving this young man who has lived through hell a place to stay while he fights to legally stay in this country.

The Austria cronies have falsely claimed she is harboring an illegal alien. This is blatantly false. They claim he has a long criminal record. Again completely false, his only record is for traffic violations and being drunk in public. I don't know about all of you but I have been picked up for speeding quite a few times in my life and when I was a young man like Ishema is, drunk in public happened more times then I want to remember.

Austria is scum to use Sharen's generosity to help a young man that faced genocide, that lost his parents, that was dragged to a new country were he didn't speak the language by the only woman he trusted, then to face a complicated legal and immigration system.

The Dayton Daily News and Springfield News-Sun to publish this story without checking into the facts, to refer to the young man as illegal with a long criminal record is irresponsible. This is not journalism in any way shape or form.

We must get the true story out. We must hold Austria responsible. We cannot have a man that shows such immoral tactics to hold any political office let alone be our Congressman. We must call out the Dayton Daily News and Springfield News-Sun for their irresponsibility in this matter.

This tactic of complete lies and distortions by Austria and his cronies is the lowest of the low.
